Severed head for FX mini series Shōgun. Likeness of of Yabushige, played by actor Tadanobu Asano. We see this for a split second at the end of episode 10. We never actually lifecast Tadanobu as it was not going to be shot for long- so I used another head mould for this job, and had to artwork it to look as much like Tadanobu as possible. I got to follow this project through from start to finish; casting the head in silicone, fabricating the neck stump, painting, hair punching and styling. Work done at Lindala Schminken FX in Vancouver BC.
I worked for Andy Gent in the puppet maintenance department, where we carried out on-set repairs on the puppets. We were responsible for final checks before filming, and also helping make new puppets from scratch. I was the lead painter on site in the puppet maintenance department.
I also worked within Roy Bell’s painting department, painting miniature props and sets.
All work shown was done at 3 Mills Studios in London between 2015-2017 within the puppet and art department and was often worked on and created by multiple artists.
Highly realistic live fish prop for Yellowjackets S2. The fish had to be grabbed out of the river and have a bite taken out of it- which could be reset for multiple shots. The actor eating the fish was vegan, so the edible flesh had to be made out of a vegan gelatine substitute. I created a lifelike raw fish flesh out of agar, lychee and coconut milk. This was cast into a bite mould, and packed into a spot on the silicone fish prop, and covered in a rice paper- stimulating the fish skin, and painted to match. The shot where the fish was wriggling in the water was animated by a puppet mech made by Josh Raymond.
All work was done by myself at Masters FX in 2022 in Vancouver BC.
Contracting for Joel Eschallier at SFX Studios I lead a small team of artists in feathering these two lifelike Canada Geese puppets for a commercial for Nav Canada. I managed a team of 8 artists to 'art finish' the birds, and also went on set to help puppeteer them on the day. The commercial was produced by Maximum Effort and can be seen on youtube/instagram/facebook.
We spent two months covering each static bird in feathered panels that when pieced together would resemble the geese's colour patterning. Each feather was either hand dyed or painted, and woven together on four way stretch lace to create these panels. The size, shape, colour and thickness of each feather was really important to determine the specific look of each panel for the most realistic likeness. We had a team of artists plucking feathers for months; arranging them on boards, airbrushing the tips, dying them, and finally hand laying them onto the stretch lace. Their necks are fur transfers, and the teeny tiny feathers around their face were all hand plucked and laid individually too. Each bird has a set of extended wings and tucked wings that are interchangeable.
The birds themselves are rigged rod puppets with animatronic faces, designed and built by Joel and Tibor Farkas.

Through working at various FX shops I have fabricated multiple bodies for surgical scenes in shows such as Good Doctor, Fire Country or a new show called Hurt Unit. The bodies all have to be highly realistic and the organs have to be anatomically correct and able to be acted with. Some scenes would require cut-able skins, blood rigs, remove-able bones and or organs. All work shown was done by myself at Masters FX, or LSFX in Vancouver BC.

A super fun project to be a part of; creating 36 decaying bodies in 6 weeks. I worked in a small team painting and hair punching these rotted heads.
I also did a couple of applications of the bloated neck prosthetics on set. The make-ups shown here were applied with Tibor Farkas and Jess Ratterman respectively.
